The people of Nineveh were just as corrupt and as violent as the people of Sodom, but their repentance caused God to change His heart. So He decided not to destroy them. The people of Nineveh embraced God’s commands with honest submission and repentance for their sins, as well as their true and heartfelt deeds. So God bestowed His pity on them.
4
No person can duplicate God’s reward, nor God’s pity for mankind. No one can possess God’s mercy or tolerance, nor God’s sincere feelings towards humanity. Only the Creator has pity on mankind, the Creator holds for them endless affection. Only the Creator can bestow mercy on mankind and cherish all of His creation.
