Pity can mean to love very dearly. Pity can mean to love and protect. Pity can mean to be unwilling to hurt. Pity can mean to feel tenderness. Only the Creator has pity on mankind, the Creator holds for them endless affection. Only the Creator can bestow mercy on mankind and cherish all of His creation.

The people of Nineveh were just as corrupt and as violent as the people of Sodom, but their repentance caused God to change His heart. So He decided not to destroy them. The people of Nineveh embraced God’s commands with honest submission and repentance for their sins, as well as their true and heartfelt deeds. So God bestowed His pity on them.
