Today I’ll introduce to you a film from the Christian Church — My Dream of the Kingdom of Heaven. On hearing the title, many brothers and sisters who believe in the Lord will be unable to be calm. Welcoming the coming of the Lord and being brought into the kingdom of heaven is the dream of all of us believers in the Lord. However, why can most of us only have been gazing to the sky sighing for all these years, but the protagonist of this movie is able to find the correct path to the kingdom of heaven and has the chance to realize his dream of the kingdom of heaven? What different manifestations make him become a wise virgin and welcome the appearance of the Lord? Let’s look for the answers with the plots developing.

1. “Blessed Are They Which Do Hunger and Thirst After Righteousness: for They Shall Be Filled” (Matthew 5:6).

The reason why the protagonist is able to find the path to the kingdom of heaven is because this is connected to these words — thirsting and hungering for righteousness. This point can be proved by a few plots of this film.

First, at the beginning of the film, after supporting the brothers and sisters, the hero Pastor Song and Missionary Choi are talking about the facts: When praying, they cannot feel the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit; there is no new light in their preaching; their brothers and sisters all become inactive and weak-spirited. These are all the true situations of desolation in religion. Ordinary pastors and elders will keep off these problems; however, they two call a spade a spade. Moreover, Pastor Song can reflect on whether there are deviations in his practice and seek God’s will with regard to the church having no work of the Holy Spirit. From these, we can see Pastor Song and Missionary Choi don’t rely on their own methods to do things when faced with difficulties, but can reflect on themselves and pray to God to seek His will. This is an expression of having God in their hearts, and even more it is the manifestation of thirsting and hungering for righteousness. The Lord Jesus once said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you” (Luke 11:9). It is just because they thirst and seek that God indeed appears before them.

Second, after hearing the news of the Lord’s return, in order to seek the footprints of God, they take an action — going abroad to investigate the Eastern Lightning. Seeing their action, in my moving feeling, I couldn’t help thinking of the reaction of most pastors and elders of religion when they heard the news of the Lord’s second coming: They said, “The Lord has returned? That’s impossible! Everything preaching that the Lord has returned is deceiving people, and is a heresy and false way. So we won’t listen to, study or come in contact with it.” As believers in the Lord, our greatest hope is to be able to meet the Lord when He returns. If we truly thirst for righteousness, shouldn’t we act just like Pastor Song and Missionary Choi? That is to say, as long as there is a glimmer of hope that we may be able to welcome the Lord, we should be desperate to seek and investigate. This is just like the words Pastor Song says in the film, “What is more important than the return of the Lord?” Remember the prophecy in the Revelation says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). Between Pastor Song and Missionary Choi and those who have heard the gospel of the Lord Jesus’ return but don’t seek or investigate, who are the people who genuinely look forward to the Lord’s arrival? Seeing that in the end, Pastor Song and Missionary Choi meet the Lord’s appearance, I think the answer is self-evident.

2. “Blessed Are the Pure in Heart: for They Shall See God” (Matthew 5:8).

Next, they come to China and find that though the native church leaders, Elder O and Co-worker Meng have already obviously recognized that Almighty God’s words are the truth and very realistic, not only do they not lead the believers to seek or investigate, but for the sake of preserving their own status and livelihood and controlling God’s sheep in their hands, they are even united with the atheist CCP government in convicting and resisting the Church of Almighty God. Listening to Elder O and Co-worker Meng’s conversations, I remember two thousand years ago, the Jewish chief priests and scribes joined hands with the Roman government to condemn and arrest the Lord Jesus. Though they believed in God in name, they were all the people whose love of status surpassed their love of God. So after seeing that His words and work were full of authority and power, they still resisted and condemned the Lord Jesus. Finally, they were punished justly by God because of their actions and deeds.

Compared with them, Pastor Song and Missionary Choi are also in high position, but in order to welcome the work and appearance of the Lord, they can put their positions aside to seek and investigate. Therefore, only they are the people who whole-heartedly love the truth. From this, it can be seen that being pure of heart reflects one aspect of being a wise virgin.

3. “Blessed Are the Poor in Spirit: for Theirs Is the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 5:3).

Though Pastor Song and Missionary Choi find the Church of Almighty God as they wish, that they reach this point doesn’t mean they have found the path to the kingdom of heaven. Actually, regarding the path to the kingdom of heaven, Pastor Song who has believed in the Lord for more than thirty years has already had his own opinions: “As long as one can practice humility, tolerance, and love brothers and sisters and can follow the example of Paul by expending and laboring for the Lord, he is following the way of the Lord, and he will be raptured into the kingdom of heaven when the Lord returns.” Generally, if we have had the answer to the question of how to find the path to the kingdom of heaven and it’s based on Paul’s words in the Bible, we will think this surely is the most right path. If at this moment whoever puts forward other opinions, we will refuse to listen to them. However, Pastor Song and Missionary Choi can seek and ask humbly; besides, when hearing the viewpoint on the path to the kingdom of heaven which the witnesses of the Church of Almighty God display is completely different from theirs, they don’t insist on their own opinions, but humbly seek and modestly listen to the witnesses’. And it is just because of their humble attitude that they can understand the Lord’s words exactly in their hearts, “Not every one that said to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess to them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:21–23). These words have enlightened them: Regarding the path to the kingdom of heaven, the Lord’s words and Paul’s words are completely opposite. Then whose words are actually the basis of one’s entry into the kingdom of heaven? In one’s faith, should he actually believe in the Lord’s words or man’s words? Through the witnesses’ fellowship, Pastor Song and Missionary Choi understand that if one wants to attain salvation and enter into the kingdom of heaven, he must go by the Lord Jesus’ words as final.

Seeing they finally find the true path to the kingdom of heaven because of their humble and seeking attitude, I realized the profound importance of the Lord Jesus’ words: “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 5:3).

This film can allow us believers in the Lord to find the true path to the kingdom of heaven and also makes all those who truly believe in God see that, entering the kingdom of heaven is no longer only a dream; instead, as long as we put the Lord’s words above into practice, our dream will possibly be achieved.
